Amarcord
1973 Starring Bruno Zanin, Pupella Maggio, Armando Brancia, Ciccio Ingrassia Rated R 127 Minutes
In this movie Fellini portrays his home town of Rimini as he remembered it in '30s, during his young days. Many bizzare but very warm and human characters and specific Mediterranean humor made this movie the most popular of all Fellini's works.
Rating:9/10 This is one of the most unforgetable movies I have ever seen. It is fun watching the characters trying to interact with each other. And what makes this so amazing is that there were so many characters that were crammed in just over two hours. There really wasn't no story to this. But this was just a series of events, most of them were funny, a couple of them touching, all of them unforgettable. I don't know how anyone could ever forget the uncle sitting in a tree crying out I want a woman! Hilarious situation. What this movie does have is a lot of originality. The characters were very original as I'm sure Fellini was drawing of his childhood experience of events thatr happened before World War II, as evident of the rising of facism in Italy. I have a very good memory of the first time I sen this film. I was over at a friends house and we flipping through the channels and we came across the scene were foru youths were sitting in a vehicle and you can imagine what they were doing. Well maybe you can't. but it caught our attention. We watched more of it and we were fascinated by the movie. Several years later we found it and we both own copies of this magical movie. If you are looking for something very different, give this film a chance.
