An unemployed defence worker frustrated with the various flaws he sees in society, begins to psychotically and violently lash out against them.
Rating:9/10 Micheal Douglas gives a great performance as a man who has finally gone over the edge. I know some people like to relate to him, but I don't. I mean sure, I'm really sick of a lot of the ills of society today, but from what I've seen, D-Fens is just a bit too tense. He was a bit too violent towards even his own family. I know that the adding pressure of life makes things very stressful, I just find different ways to cope with it. But then again, this is a movie. And it was a good one. I found it very entertaining. You also have to remember that this story is also about Robert Duvall and the pressures of life that he has to deal with. He lost a young daughter. But you see him handling life in a different way. It is also about two obsolete men. Remember the words that Micheal Douglas says to the caretaker and his family. "I'm obsolete." Duvall's character was the same way. This really is an excellent story with some satisfication given from the Douglas' character. Going through construction, eating crappy food, dealing with sick nazi racists, rich snobbish doctors and gangs. Seeing him deal with these situations was very satisfying. The acting was pretty well too. The really brought the story to life for people being able to relate. I probably relate more to Duvall's character than I would to Douglas' character though. Really worth watching. It is one of those movies that have many different interpretations and is one that can easily be discussed with others who enjoyed this movie with differing points of view.
