A fantasy-thriller set in present-day Moscow where the respective forces that control daytime and nighttime do battle.
Rating:7/10 Even though this movie isn't a masterpiece, it is a very original take on the Good versus Evil battle. But this is only the first of a trilogy and because it was a first, there were a lot of unanswered questions at the end and it had the ending it did. It is a very creative story, although at times it gets a little confusing. The movie slows down at times and it starts to move at a snails pace, but then picks up towards the end. The cinematography and the special effects were pretty good. The effects aren't overdone, so that they are not a distraction. the begining scenes with the truck trying to track down Anton was pretty cool looking as well. This also has an excellent soundtrack as I found myself bobbing my head once in a while. but the atmosphere in this movie was brought out very well. This had a dark dirty grungy fell to it and you knew it. The cast was pretty good as they didn't go over the top with their characters as they easily could have. This is a very refreshing take on vampirism and I can't wait to see the nest movie.
