Standing in for a sick colleague, renowned New York psychiatrist Sam Foster is confronted with disturbed art student Henry Letham. Seemingly inspired by his idol, a painter infamous for committing suicide on his 21th birthday, Henry announces he will shoot himself Saturday at midnight--the moment he turns 21. Foster, once having saved his suicidal girlfriend Lila, takes the threat seriously but fails to simply have Henry taken into custody. Instead, while trying to track his patient down, Sam is gradually drawn into the world of Henry's obsessions.
Rating:5/10 When watching a movie like Stay, you have to go in with an open mind. Normally when I watch a movie, I can watch it openly. The problem with these kinds of movies, thanks to the likes of Sixth Sense, we know go into watching a movie like this trying to figureout the ending and the twist. While I was watching this movie I was spending too much time trying to figure out what was going on with the ending(which I figured out about halfway through), instead of watching this for more of an entertainment value. The problem was, is that this is not original. It is not. You know something is going to happen. This movie seems all to surreal. Visually, this is a very appealing movie. The great cast helps as well. This is a movie, you really have to be in the mood to watch, and I wasn't in the mood to watch this movie. Maybe, just maybe, I'll watch it again sometime and then maybe I'll enjoy it more, but right now, I didn't enjoy it that much.
