In Venice Beach, naive Midwesterner JB bonds with local slacker KG and they form the rock band Tenacious D. Setting out to become the world's greatest band is no easy feat, so they set out to steal what could be the answer to their prayers -- a magical guitar pick housed in a rock-and-roll museum some 300 miles away.
Rating:7/10 A very silly and very funny movie. If you go into this movie with a serious mind, forget it! You will not get this movie. The humor of this movie reminded me of a mix of There's Somthing About Mary and South Park. Especially as to how far Jack Black and Kyle Gass will go for laughs, and for most of the time, it works. There is a lot of music. I mean alot. This is also where it reminds me of South Park. I wasn't expecting such an epic use of music, but that is what makes this movie different than most comedies. Most of the music was pretty good as well. The laughs keep coming for the most part, and for a brief period there is a lull, but then when the laughs start up again, they do not stop. I will admit, I am a big fan of Tenacious D. I have the album and the DVD and I love both. Hell, sometimes at work I will be singing the songs because they are that catchy. The cameos, are for the most part hilarious as well. Meat Loaf, Ben Stiller(amazingly hilarious), Dave Grohl as Satan, and the funniest of them all was Tim Robbins. I'm still laughing at his last scene in the move as he battles Tenacious D and then tries to get away from the cops. Some people won't get this movie as it isn't for everyone, but if you are a hard rocking fan of the D, this is a movie you cannot miss. You can't miss this!
