One of the more faithful adaptations of a book in my recent memory, Richard Matheson's I Am Legend was first brought out to the big screen starring Vincent Price. Originally picked up by Hammer Horror, they couldn't film this because of having so many problems with the censors already, they ended up selling the script and it ended up being made in Italy using mostly a foreign cast. At times watching the movie and seeing how badly the lines being dubbed was a bit annoying. Even when Vincent Price was doing his narration, it seemed a little out of place. There were times when Price looked out of place. Don't get me wrong. This man is not a horror icon for nothing. But he just didn't feel right for the role. Not that he did not give his all. Vincent Price is one heck of a performer and always gave his alway. but he didn't feel right. But the atmosphere was there. You could hear the sadness in the narration by Vincent Price and you could tellhow lonely he was and how happy he was when he found the dog and then shortly afterwards the outcome of the dog's life. One must think that George Romero must have gotten some good ideas from this movie for Night of the Living Dead(one of my all time favorite movies, by the way). As the creatures appeared at ttimes to be more zombie than vampire, except towards the end. This isn't that bad of a movie, even though a little slow at times, this is a better companion piece to Richard Matheson's I Am Legend.
