The Scarlet Letter
1934 Starring Colleen Moore, Hardie Albright, Henry B. Walthall, Cora Sue Collins Unrated 69 Minutes
In the seventeenth century, in Massachusetts, a young woman is forced to wear a scarlet "A" on her dress for bearing a child out of wedlock.
Rating:3/10 This movie was a pretty faithful adaptation to the book written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Of course it compacted a bit, but still was faithful. The one thing really annoying about this film is the comic relief characters. They kept showing up and adding nothing to the film except time. It was well acted, but the pace was too slow and found myself getting bored with this. This in turn takes away the energy and the dramatic tension. If this would have had a little more time added to it, we could have had some real character development, but we get this. Something flat and lacking.
