I found myself a little disappointed with this, even though this was a still a decent watch. I remembered all the stories from the Bible about the book of David and I thought that this would have been awesome. As a matter of fact, this was something that I would have considered a ten even before watching. But the way this movie started, I didn't care for it. It was foreshadowing of events to come to prepare for the final battle in the movie and it kind of set the tone. After a little while, we see David's younger years and I really got into the madness that Saul was falling into. But the battle between David and Goliath was a letdown. Very disappointing. But the movie did pick up a bit, when Saul was chasing a declaring war on David. The production values were pretty good and the battles were cool looking to watch. Even though there was no blood, these battles had some brutality to it. The other problem I had with this movie, is that it did drag on. I found myself at times seeing how much time there was left till the end of the movie. The acting was excellent, especially with the cast that was involved. And wasn't it kind of cool to see Leonard Nimoy as Samuel the prophet? He was very intesne with his portrayal. It did have a very strong ending though as we find out eventually who was going to be taking over the kingdom of Israel after David. Decent enough movie, but it just dragged a bit.
