I really enjoyed the first Lake Placid. Even though it had a weak story, the cast seemed to have an amazing chemsitry, which really helped them pull what could have been a mediocre movie to a very entertaining movie. The dialogue was very good and it was a lot of fun to watch. Thsi mess on the other hand was a very soulless and bland movie. This was basically the same movie with a cast that could have been replaced by high schoolers and you would not have noticed a change in the acting quality. The cast had no chemistry and seemed as if they were just going through the motions in this movie. Cloris Leachman and John Schnieder were supposed to give this film legitimacy, but it backfired. The people who wrote and directed this brought no originality to these characters and it would have been better if Betty White and Bill Pullman would have came back to claim their roles. Betty White's character was such a foul mouth person that it was a hilarious shock value that she brought to the movie, while Cloris Leachman really did not bring that much to the character as we were expecting the same thing. I loved Schnieder in the Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville, but this was not a movie he should have accepted. He tried to be Bill Pullman so hard, that it was horrible. And it just wasn't him. They just basically reproduced the same characters except with different names, but they did not have the chemistry that the characters had in the last movie and it seemed as if they were trying to hard to do that. Lame. Stay away from this. This movie stunk and it was a soulless and joyless movie to watch. While the other one was fun, this was not.
