Mr. Brooks was the kind of movie I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch or not. I mean, I did like the idea behind it. Not original, but is anything nowadays. But still a good idea. I am not a real big fan of the cast that was used. I like William Hurt. But as far as the rest of the cast, not really. I haven't like a Kevin Costner movie since Robin Hood. Not a real big fan of Demi Moore. And even though he is somewhat funny, Dane cook is mediocre. But everyone pulled together and made a decent little film. I was really impressed with Dane Cook. I was not expecting that kind of performance from him at all. As far as Costner and Moore, the did pretty good as well. William Hurt was awesome as he stole the show right out from under everyone. I really liked the little side story of Kevin Costner's daughter possibly becoming like him. That was a little wrinkle I did not see coming or was expecting. A great deal of tension between the characters, especially with different kinds of tension. But the one real problem I had with this movie was the ending. And I do believe that an ending can make or break a movie. But this movie had several false endings I felt and was a major turn off for me. But the movie was two minutes too long and I felt that the cheap way was taken. Costner did say that this was the first movie of a trilogy and the first three false endings really brought a great way to bring in another movie, but the ending that was used was flat and felt forced. For me, a ending makes or breaks a movie and even though I rated this movie just barely above average, this could have been ranked much higher.
