A film noir centering around a hard-boiled, stylish kingpin drug dealer, called King David, who returns to his hometown seeking redemption--but ends up only finding violent death. King David's final moments are spent with Paul, an aspiring journalist who knew him for just a few minutes; yet King David would forever more have an impact on Paul's life. Half preacher, half Satan, and all street smarts, King David had recorded the story of his exploits on audiotape, leaving behind an often-poetic sermon on villainy and its consequences. The tapes reveal that the cycle of violence and retribution, which his actions have spawned, has come back to him, full circle, as he suspected they might all along.
Rating:7/10 Never Die Alone is a pretty smart story. It is very interesting to see how one man can affect the life of many around him. That is basically what the story is all about. But it is portrayed quite well. They way the movie shows the harshness and cruelness of the world and how even the innocent and the good people can fall to drug addiction. DMX is one of my favorite rappers, but he really shines in this movie. And I know he did a good job, because I was extremely hating his character by the end of the movie, thinking he got exactly what he deserved. David Arquette did a decent job as well. Micheal Ealy also did quite well. you felt bad for his character after watching his sister get killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. You feel bad, because you find out that DMX's character killed his mother. This isn't an action picutre, even though it has some nice action sequences. This is a very gritty and brutal drama. The other thing I liked about this movie is the symbolism involved especially towards the end. It almost has a Christianity twist to it towards the end. If watching this movie, you know right away DMX is dead. That is the opening of the movie. But at the end(DMX also does the narration), DMX's character questions what will happen to him, almost hoping that reincarnation will happen. I won't tell you how it ends, but know wing what kind of evil man he was, you can just guess.
