Rating:3/10 When I started watching Battle Royale 2, I thought that it started off pretty good. I enjoyed seeing the kids playing rugby, taking the bus ride with some interaction with each other and then getting captured. After they were captured though, things started to go downhill quickly. I was expecting some changes to the Battle Royale format, but the ones they came up with, I just couldn't get into. Especially when the kids are getting paired up. I thought it would've been an interesting wrinkle, but it wasn't. It was just a quick way to kill off a bunch of kids just so that they could get into the philosophy of the terrorists alot quicker. As far as the winner from the original movie, Shuya, to make him the terrorist made absolutley no sense. Sure he would've changed mentally after the ordeal he went through, but I don't think he would've gone to the extremes that he did. I got the feeling that this was almost pro-terrorism and anti United States. Some movies made in the United States are anti American, but this just seemed to blatant. And the message that these kids were sending out was absolutely stupid. Kill all adults because they can't be trusted. While watching this, Shuya could almost be easily compared to Osama Bin Laden and that image is pouonded into your head with the first scene. I can almost see what the people who made this film was trying for. The first Battle Royale was so controversial, it is almost like they wanted to take it one step further this time around. but instead of taking one step ahead, they took several steps behind. The acting in this was horrible as well. The teacher was so annoying with his overacting, it was hard to concentrate on him without laughing. The kdis were just as bad as if they were just trying to scream at each other and that was it. The kid with the blonde hair was so annoying, I was kind of hoping he would have been the first to go. The action sequences were straight from Saving Private Ryan. What a waste of a potentially good idea, but it was just turned into a dumg, offensive piece of garbage.
