Rating:9/10 The Wizard of Oz is a classic piece of American cinema. What makes The Wizard of Oz such a classic is that it is timeless. There are really no references that date this movie and it is good for the whole family. The special effects are amazing for the limited amount of technology that they had back in those days. It looks more realistic than just about anything done with CGI. The sets are amazing and huge. It is hard to believe that something this big was made back then. The comstuems were very colorful. The musical numbers are catchy and there is no possible way you could forget them. All the characters are just as memorable. From Judy Garland being Dorothy right down to the little people in the Lollipop Guild. Anyone who had a role in this movie was awesome. There was not one bad actor in this bunch. Well acted all the way around. There were so many lines that are constantly repeated in other movies, songs and in other media. I don't know anyone who could ever forget the wicked witch screaming at Dororthy, "I'll get you, my pretty. And your little dog, too!" Did the witch have a voice to match the costume she had. The other character that made quite an impression on me was the cowardly lion. He really had to put a lot of emotion into his character and pulled it off very well. Even though the movie does have some flaws, it does not mar this movie at all. This is a timeless classic that will still be watched hundred of years from now, and it still will be revered then.
