This is a decent sequel to the classic Planet of the Apes.  Most of the cast comes back for this one(minus Roddy McDowell, who comes back for the rest), but the focus is on the newcomer to the story, James Franciscus as Brent.  Franciscus does a decent job replacing Heston as the lead, even though Heston is the superior actor.  This movie is more of a retread of the original except that it now expands to the Forbidden Zone and the war that the apes have declared on the mutants.  I didn't mind the mutants so much, but that worship service to the bomb was very annoying.  The story moves along at a decent pace and it has its tense moments.  It also has quite a twist for an ending that I wasn't expecting for this but it seemed to fit just right.  This is worth a watch even though it is not on par with the original.
