I wasn't expecting much from the sequel to Chaskushin Ari(One Missed Call). I was watching this with low expectations. I mean the original was alright, but it was qjuite confusing and slow at times. So I wasn't expecting the sequel to be much better. I was wrong. sure towards the middle it did get slow, but in the last half hour maybe four minutes left of the movie, it kicked into high gear. But the tone was set right off the bat at school with the teacher and the students, as the students were leaving for school. When the last parent came up and took her child, the child said goodbye to the teacher and then said goodbye and started to wave at someone behind the teacher. The teacher turned to look and no one was there. The teacher looked at the little girl and she was still waving. Very creepy scene to start the movie. Now we get into the mystery part of the movie as things have changed from the red candy to the black coal. Now towards the middle of the movie it does drag on a bit and slows down, but once the characters get to Taiwan, this movie gets a shot in the arm like the first one should have. As a matter of fact, the intensity factor gets turned up quite a bit, the scenes get very creepy, and there was even one scene that scared me pretty good. I am getting the chills just thingk about it as well. Now during the last part of the movie, you also learn what has happened to LiLi(the ghostly villain in this movie), and that was quite disturbing and you also get your dosage of Mimiko doing her thing. The acting was quite well done as well as you see the sacrificc that the characters wil make for each other and how touching that was. Then at the very end you get to see the twist, which I kind of thought was going to happen and then still suprised when it did, which also gave me a bit of chills. At least with this movie, things are wrapped up a little bit better than the original and are left with less questions that the first. A very good and very entertaining movie that I know I will watch and enjoy again.
