Do you remember when comic adaptations were made and you just couldn't wait to see them and after you seen it, you realized you just wasted about two hours of your life? Yeah, comic adapations used to be very bad. Comic book adaptations up until maybe ten years ago,can be compared to video game adaptations. Putrid. But the last ten years have been outstanding for comic adaptations, except for Ang Lee's The Hulk. I never thought that Robert Downey Jr. could really pull off playing a superhero. No way. But he had such a charm and charisma that suckered me right in as he was very quick and very natural with his lines. He had some great lines in this movie, especially in the begining. Same thing with Jeff Bridges. These guys had great chemistry together. On the other hand though, I didn't think Robert Downey Jr. had that great of chemistry with Gwyneth Paltrow. She didn't seem to fit the part. I'm used to seeing her in romantic comedies, in which she is pretty good in. But I did not care for her role in this. Her acting ability was not up to par with what she normally delivers. As far as the story goes though, it was predictable. I mean you could see this a mile away, but you do have to start somewhere if you are going to franchise a superhero character. So I do expect better than what we seen, which is a good thing as I thought that this movie rocked. It had its moments of lull, but it did make up for the lulls with some comic relief and quick action sequences when needed. The final fight scene between the Birdges and DowneyJr.'s characters were pretty suspenseful and entertaining. Well actually, anytime we got to see Iron Man, it was very entertaining. Great origin story and I am so looking forward to seeing the next Iron Man.
