Rating:9/10 When watching the movie, Event Horizon, you will notice that this movie for the first hour is based on mood and atmosphere. It is very foreboding and creepy. The last half hour is when the action takes off and it pays off quite well. When you see the cover for Event Horizon, you think sci fi. Wrong! It does have the sci fi elements, but this is horror, plain and simple. A ghost story so to say. It has some decent gore and it makes you say, "What the hell", from time to time. Most of the acting was pretty decent, but I didn't care for the lead, Laurence Fishburne. Maybe the character was made that way, but he seemed to lack any emotion whatsoever. Everyone else was pretty good otherwise. The special effects were excellent. I loved the little liquid blobs that were spotted around the ship, before gravity took over. That was kind of cool looking. This was an excellent story that was pretty fast paced. You kind of cared for what was happening to the characters. There was some pretty good character development. The ending kind of suprised me and this wasn't that predictable. A very entertaining horror movie.
