One Night With the King was a total surprise for me. I wasn't sure how good this was going to be and if this could really keep my interest. And it really did. There was some good acting... and there was some not so great acting. John Rhys-Davies does an excellent job as Mordecai, the daughter of Esther. Rhys-Davis is always good with whatever he does. I've watched movies in which the whole thing was horrible, but at least he could give movies legitimacy. James Callis(Battlestar Gallactica) was awesome as the slithery Haman the Agagite. This guy always makes an excellent villian. As far as Tiny Lister goes, his acting was rather questionable. I usually enjoy the movies eh does and his roles, but he seemed a bit out of place this time around. As far as the story goes, this was quite an inspirational story about how a woman was willing to sacrifice her life for her people. The last half hour of this movie was very intense and really kept my interest. And the really cool thing I didn't expect was some of the gloomy foreshadowing spots, such as the gallows, the setup attack of Prince Memucan. These scenes were rather gloomy looking in a movie that was unusually bright and colorful. Now I know there are going to be some naysayers, especially people who don't like Christian movies. True, in the past Christian movies have been kind of lame, but in the last ten to fifteen years these movies have really come a long way, such as this and it is well worth giving it a chance.
