The Hitcher
2007 Starring Sean Bean, Sophia Bush, Zachary Knighton, Neal McDonough Rated R 83 Minutes
Collegiate couple Grace Andrews and Jim Halsey hit the road in a 1970 Oldsmobile 442, en route to spring break , but their pleasure trip soon turns into a waking nightmare after encountering the mysterious hitchhiker John Ryder, a.k.a. The Hitcher. The initial encounters with Ryder are increasingly off-putting for Grace and Jim, and they bravely fight back when he ambushes them. But they are truly blindsided when he implicates them in a horrific slaying and continues to shadow them. The open road becomes a battleground of blood and metal as, in trying to elude not only Ryder but also New Mexico State Police Lieutenant Esteridge's officers, Grace and Jim must fight for their lives and face their fears head-on.
Rating:6/10 This version of the Hitcher wasn't too bad, but it was kind of pointless, as it was almost scene from scene from the original. Sure there were a couple of the characters switched around, but by and large this was the same movie that came out in the eighties. What this one lacked was the imagination as it felt as if it had to show everything where as the old one you had to use your imagination for some of the murders. Sean Bean as John Ryder was pretty awesome. Sean Bean continues to impress in lackluster movie such as The Dark and Silent Hill. Not to bad, but you might be better off watching the older version that this one as was a bit more entertaining and not so predictable.
