Flat Out was a movie I wasn't expecting too much out of. Well, I got more than I bargained for, but that isn't really saying much. This was a very poorly acted movie. The lead, played by Stewart Goddard, reminds me of Owen Wilson. He kind of looks like him. Kind of sounds like him. He even seems to have his charm. But he does not have the acting capacity that Owen Wilson does. Goddard needs more time to work on his acting chops, then he could be something decent. But he wasn't decent in this. There were two acting performances that were pretty decent though and that was done by Todd Bridges and Micheal Madsen. I can understand Todd Bridges being in this, but Micheal Madsen. Even Ron Jeremy, who had one line, was better than the rest of the actors. Yep, you read that right. Ron Jeremy. And he was acting with a kid. The rest of the cast was highly annoying though, especially Irina Roman. Since this was based on a true story, I hope that Shanw Powell's wife didn't really behave like that. The dialogue was pretty awkward and just didn't seem to feel right or natural. And with the overacting or lack of acting ability that some of the cast had, the dialogue was just painful. Even the repetitive music was painful to listen to. The last race scene was hard to tell which bike our lead was on. There were just so many things wrong with this movie. But Madsen and Bridges were the bright spots and the story was kind of neat. I have this feeling though that I might be ranking this movie a bit high. But it really could have been a lot worse.
