Nowadays it seems that making modern family movies is kind of a lost art.  There haven't been too many good family movies that have been made unless it is animation and those have been questionable at best.  So when something like Night at the Museum comes around, I get to thinking that this is going to be another long commercial for something aimed at kids.  Well, thank God for Night at the Museum.  I didn't see any advertising what so ever.  Watching this was like getting a breath of fresh air.  Even though the premise is very unique, it is kind of by the numbers kind of movie.  But with all the cool special effects, this movie really works well.  It makes it fun to watch.  The cast was also excellent.  Ben Stiller always has great facial expressions to go with his physical comedy.  It was really good to see Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney and Bill Cobb in this movie, no less working with each other.  Sometimes it feel like it was trying to hard to be funny, but alot of the stuff did work.  The part where Ben Stiller and the monkey keep slapping each other in the face was so hilarious that I almost fell out of my chair.  This is a very charming movie and it is excellent for the whole family.
