A comet wipes out most of life on Earth, leaving two Valley Girls to fight the evil types who survive.
Rating:7/10 Most of your movies that deal with end of the world type catastophes are usually pretty serious with a little bit of comic relief used by one character. Night of the Comet is different though. It is not an outright comedy, but it has kind of a lighter atmosphere than most. What really makes this a classic 80's B film, is that you have to throw in zombies. Sure, the makeup and the special effects were nothing great, but it was passable. The actors were good enough to keep my interest in this movie, even during the slow periods that occured in this movie. While some people may try to pass this off as a zombie movie, and it does have zombies, I would like to think of this movie almost as an homage to the horror and sci-fi movies of the 50's. This has more to do with dealing of evil scientists than it does zombies. The one thing that is really great about this movie is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. Even though it does have its slow periods, it is fun to watch with a bunch of friends, who afterwards aren't going to overanalyze this movie.
