Well as far as cinema goes, the same ideas go into the movie making business as well. If a movie does well or halfway decent, it is time for a sequel. Son of Kong came out the same year that King Kong did. And you can tell that it was rushed. I liked how it started though. It showed the aftermath rightaway for Carl Denham and the skipper as they had to deal with the consequences of Kong terrorizing New York. But the story slowly falls then. Son of Kong was made more of a children's film than it was for adults. Son of Kong lacked the dark mood, the horror and the body count that the first one had. Little Kong was more of a protector than a monster, showing the more cuddlier side of a giant ape. Little Kong seemed to have the fighting skills of his father though, even though he had to fight a giant bear. Go figure. The special effects were still pretty cool, but not as good as the first one. Several of the animals looked decent as well. It was good that they brought several cast members back for this, but the thrills and the excitment weren't really there for Son of Kong.
