Rating:9/10 If it wasn't for the last ten minutes of the film, this would have gotten a perfect ten from me. The way this movie opens up, it really grabs you and just won't let you go. From the moment we first meet John Ryder, you figure out there is something not right with him. Rutger Hauer plays this evil character so well, that he is very scary. He just seems so void of guilt or a conscience. C. Thomas Howell plays the All American kid perfectly and Jennifer Jason Leigh is excellent in the female lead. There are moments you are going to have to use your imagination, but it really is well worth it, especially at the truck stop. I was just watching on in terror as the truck stop scene was taking place. Even the setting for this movie was well done and seemed to fit right in. Skip that remake and watch this movie instead. It is more horrifying and the characters are much better and scarier.
