This is the film version of the Pulitzer and Tony Award winning musical about Bohemians in the East Village of New York City struggling with life, love and AIDS, and the impacts they have on America.
Rating:7/10 Rent wasn't on my wishlist of movies to see. Saying that, I'll have to eat mywords a bit. This was better than I thought it would be. The film has a bit of grittiness and hopelessness to it making it a bit unpredictable, and if you never saw the stage performance, then you don't know what is coming next. So for, it was unpredictable. I didn't care for the openeing montage and I thought, this was going to be long, but after that it kicked into the story and I enjoyed myself a bit. Many of the songs were toe tappers and I got into the music. The songs were very catchy and will stick in your head. There was alot of emotion put into these performances as well. Not one flat performance. Everyone gave it their all and it pays off quite well. the one part I thought was really bad though, was the protest. Mooing. Nah, I don't think so. To me it doesn't work and actually comes across kind of stupid. This wasn't so bad though. It was enjoyable. Just keep an open mind and enjoy.
