Carl and James are two pleasant but unambitious garbage men. Carl has a telescope with which he observes his neighbors. One evening he sees a man giving a female neighbor a hard time. As she leaves he shoots the man with a pellet gun. Hiding, he and James miss two men strangling the man and leaving with the body. When he appears in a can on their route they are afraid and hide the body, fearing that they may be implicated in the death. Trying to crack the case, they spy on the woman, join up with a slightly to majorly crazed vietnam vet, kidnap a pizza man and help to protect the ecology.
Rating:7/10 This little underrated gem was written and directed by Emilio Estevez. You could tell he wrote and directed because of the humor that is used. He dud quite a good job too. Estevez and his real life brother, Charlie Sheen, had quite a good chemistry as the two heroes and were both pretty funny, even though sometimes it felt like it was a little overdone. They also played the parts of garbagemen, in which was kind of a gutsy move, since it really is not a glorious position as Hollywood movies try to make the main characters much more like managers and office people, things of that nature. The real star of this film though was Keith David. He had some of the best lines in this movie, especially when he gave his thoughts about touching another mans fries. Hilarious. Dean Cameron was also excellent as the kidnapped pizza delivery guy. Even though he didn't have a lot of lines, he actually had a good chemistry with Keith David. These four were together quite a bit and had a good chemistry with each other and had some very memorable lines. The story was a little stupid and kind of preachy, but the some what low brow comedy really distracted it in a good way. It is pretty mindless but it is entertaining as hell and worth at least a rental on a Saturday night.
