Steve and Doug Butabi dream of opening their own club as cool as the Roxbury. The problem is, they are so uncool, they've never even been inside the Roxbury. They still live at home and work at a plant store owned by their dad who is pressuring Steve to marry Emily, the daughter of the owner of the neighboring lamp store
Rating:5/10 A Night at the Roxbury is one of the better Saturday Night Live sketch movies released today. But that really isn't saying much considering how many Saturday Night Live sketches were made into movies and totally bombed. A Night at the Roxbury had some excellent moments though. My favorite was when Farrell and Kattan were loading the van with flowers after their father chastised Kattan. You see Will Ferrell ever so gently putting the flowers and plants into the van and Kattan is just throwing them into the van reckelessly. Kattan and Ferrell had excellent chemistry, but I thought it was more fun watching Hedaya and Kattan go at it. There were times though with this movie, that it felt like it was getting old and that the jokes ran their course. But the one joke that was kept going through the movie that didn't get old was the telling of the Emilio Estevez story and Ferrell yelling out "Emiliooooo!". Very funny stuff. It has a paper thin story and it is predictable at every turn. The 81 minutes seem like this was a bit too long. It just felt like they were trying to stretch the jokes too thin. It had some moments, but just not enough.
