Tim Burton always makes the most amazingly visual movies I have ever seen. Not only that, but once again he colloborates with Johnny Depp quite successfully. And this is also another go around with Burton and Helena Bonham Carter as well. So we know that we are going to get quality and a good effort with this trio. You add to the mix, Alan Rickman, you have an awesome movie. I am not the biggest fan of musicals, but when they are well done, I can enjoy them immensely. Most of the songs I really enjoyed while there were a couple I didn't care for. The other thing I wasn't really prepared for while watching this was the gore that was involved. I never expected that much gore in this movie. The scene where the little boy was eating the meat pie and the surprise he found was very intense and it made me really wonder what was going to happen next. The last scene with the fire was also highly intense. You knew something was coming, but I didn't that that was it and it was really cool, but very very creepy to watch. Even the very last scene was a shocker. I was not disappointed with this. this is one of the few rare movies I know I will have to watch again.
