After taking a bit of a dip in the series with Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Escape From the Planet of the Apes really makes up for it. Roddy McDowell was back as Cornelius and there was some humor that was kind of needed in this series, especially in the begining. This is alos more of an origin story, as you can see the begining of how the talking apes came to be as chronologically this movie comes first. But after the humor is dispensed, this movie takes a bit of a Shakespearian twist and tragedy. But it was right to see Roddy McDowell back as Cornelius and how cool is it that Ricardo Montalban was in this movie? I always get a kick out of him. Even though the story does need to be stretched out a bit, especially in the begining, it shouldn't be too hard to suspend disbelief. I mean after all, this movie is about talking apes. Get past that and you have a riveting story, slow at times, but interesting to watch nonetheless.
