The living dead have taken over the world, and the last humans live in a walled city to protect themselves as they come to grips with the situation.
Rating:5/10 I had such high hopes for Land of the Dead, but after watching it, I was very disappointed. When you think zombie movies, George Romero's Night of the Living Dead should come to mind, as they have gone hand to hand together since, what 1969? George Romero created a unique formula for zombies that many have followed and owe their success to George. But George went wsomewhat wrong with this one. Simon Baker was bland. For someone to be a bit of a bad ass, they usually have some personality. Baker didn't bring it. Simon Baker looked like he didn't want to be there. He was boring. Dennis Hoper in the other hand has been in several turkeys. But what you get with Dennis is credibility and he always seems to give one hundred percent. You hire Dennis Hopper for a part in a movie now matter how bad the movie, he will give you one hundred percent. He added many little things with this character that you will see if you have watched this movie. John Leguizamo and Asia Argento give this film some credibility as well. Now, John Leguizamo plays a bad ass. He looks like he is having a little fun with it as well. Asia Argento, daughter of famous horror maestro Dario Argento, also does quite a good job with her role as well. As far as the zombies go, there next evolutionary step was for them to start thinking for themselves. Now I thought this would've been better than I thought it would. but George really tried to make the zombies as sympathetic characters, and that didn't work. I was actually getting annoyed with this actually. I don't mind the fact that they were getting smarter, but I find it hard to believe that they would have a conscience. Because of this, there is no atmosphere with this movie. The zombies should be making this claustrophobic, but they are not and the mood and tension is not in place. There was a good amount of gore, but what good is that when there is no tension built up.This isn't a very good chapter in this series and I found it to be a bit of a disappointment.
