Set in the mid 1800s, Christopher is a young American journalist who ventures to Japan to search for the Japanese prostitute he loved and abandoned years earlier. But when he ventures to an island off the coast, he sees that human demons and whores rule the land where a deformed courtesan awaits his arrival leading to a tale of extreme cruelty and perverse vengeance.
Rating:1/10 I can understand why this was baned from television in America. This is quite a disturbing film. I don't think I've ever seen an abortion on film before. I was shocked. I've always wanted to see some fo the films that Takeshi Miike has created. It takes a long time for something to get going and when it gets going, it gets kind of stupid. There are several disturbing scenes. One is the torture scene. That kept me wincing and kept me shocked. The several scenes of abortions were just way too much. I just kept shaking my head seeing a fetus get thrown into a river, and I was kind of disgusted. The dialogue was hard to understand at times and Billy Drago would just mumble and mumble and when he would start yelling is the only time you could understand him. The story was kind of dumb. I just couldn't seem to get into it. This movie doesn't really have any entertainment value and is quite boring.
