Body Melt
1993 Starring Gerard Kennedy, Andrew Daddo, Ian Smith, Regina Gaigalas Rated R 81 Minutes
Residents of peaceful Pebbles Court, Homesville, are being used unknowingly as test experiments for a new 'Body Drug' that causes rapid body decomposition (melting skin etc.) and painful death.
Rating:4/10 The one thing I will remember about Body Melt is the gore, especially the splatter images. It was very uncomfortable to watch, that's for sure. It was very over the top gooey. Yuck, is all I can say. But, inbetween the death and gore sequences, it actually is kind of boring. There is a lot of satire here as far as health clubs, brain dead fitness freaks and health gurus. There were several continuity issues as well. Such as the kid who splattered his head on the skateboard ramp and the family as they were trying to get away didn't even try to find him. Or the guy who was hallucinating about his rib being taken out, just disappears from the story altogether. They put some minutes into his story and then he just disappears. I was never expecting a great movie when I was watching this, but come on. When everyone starts dying from the drug, this movie turns into a mess in different levels. I already mentioned the goo above, but the story turns into a near psychotic mess and becomes even less enjoyable. Thsi movie did have a lot fo potential, but it reminds me a bit of Cabin Fever. If you liked that, then you might like this as it is almost a spoof or satire of that kind of horror genre.
