Eddie Weinbauer is a typical All-American teenager, at least he was until he fell under the evil spell of Rock Music. Now he's obsessed with his heavy-metal superstar idol, Sammi Curr, who is killed in a hotel fire. Eddie becomes the recipient of the only copy of Curr's unreleased album, which when played backwards sends a message of destruction and as Halloween approaches, Eddie begins to realize this isn't only rock 'n roll... it's life and death and he must draw the line to thwart this mission.
Rating:8/10 If you grew up in the eighties and you listened to heavy metal, this movie was for you. I have very fond memories of this movie. I remember how great the soundtrack was by Fastaway. This was a decent story about the hot topic in heavy metal at the time and it was called backmasking. Tipper Gore, Al Gore's wife, was on a crusade to ban this kind of music and tried to do everything she could. Back to the movie. One of the things that really made this movie cool in the eighties was the cameos involved in this movie, Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne(in a role you have to see to believe). But when you look at it from a whole, the cast was pretty good. Marc Price(Skippy from Family Ties) did a great job showing the emotions of going through a rough time in high school as an outcast. Doug Savant(from Desperate Housewives) was great as the high school antagonist. I always got a kick from the kid who played Roger, especially when he was just sitting underneath a cheerleader as she was putting up a banner in the school. For its time, the special effects were alright. I liked the ghostly green hands that were undressing the girl as they looked pretty realistic for the time that this was filmed in. The movie does not have the mass appeal to have made it in mainstream, as it was directed at those who were going through the rough times that Marc Price's character went through. This isn't for everyone though, but it is a fun movie to watch.
