When I watch a Pixar movie, I always know that at leaast visually, I am in for a treat. Sometimes the stories are pretty good as well. But while Cars watch an amazing film to watch visually, the story was a bit lacking. It didn't have that certain oomph that most Pixar movies have. The other thing I did not particularly care for was some of the voice acting in this movie, particularly Owen Wilson and Paul Newman. I thought Owen Wilson was just horrible. His emotion just didn't seem to fit the car or at times the lack of emotion. I enjoy Owen Wilson's movies. Most movies that I've seen that he starred in, I enjoyed immensely. Now the one guy that surprised me was Larry the Cable Guy. I know a lot of people don't like him, but the one thing this guy does have is a great deal of energy. That is the one thing I will always compliment Larry about is that he puts one hundreds precent into his movies and his performances. It is just too bad his movies aren't all that great or that he plays the same character in all his movies that I've seen. But his performance in this was excellent. But back to the movie. This movie did have several spots that were way too slow and just didin't seem to fit the movie. I actually fell asleep watching this because I kept finding myself getting bored. The one really fun thing about this movie though is the cameos. You have Richard Petty and his wife Lynda. You have Dale Jr., Mario Andretti and Jay Leno. And while the closing credits were rolling and John Ratzenberger's character was watching all the old Pixar movies complimenting the actor who was in all those movie(talking about Ratzenberger himself) had me rolling. But, the neat thing about that was that they had Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Billy Crystal, John Goodman and Dave Foley doing a line4 similar to the movies they were in but different. And with Ratzenberger's commentary, it was hilarious. I guess I'm being a little hard on this movie because of the high standards that I had for this movie, but when you make great movie after great movie, that bar is being set pretty high. At least the visuals were pretty amazing to watch.
