One of the things that makes Hgih Plains Drifter different from most westerns is its supernatural effect.  What makes it even more interesting is the cruelty that Eastwood's character has for the people he is trying to "protect".  It is a very interesting story of revenge, but on who?  The acting was top rate, especially with Eastwood and you will recognize several of the suppporting cast members.  High Plains Drifter is more than standard western fare.  It is well thought out and the character's development spreads out nicely over the film.  Not only is it a thinker, it is entertaining.
