Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids come to life and step out of their animated, inner-city Philadelphia world.
Rating:4/10 I don't really hate this movie, but I didn't really care for it all that much. It is kind of cute without having to refer to pop culture references a million times like a lot of family movies do nowadays. So it didn't disappoint me that way though. I thought that a lot more humor could have been interjected into the script though. This wasn't a bad premise, but a lot more could have been done with it. It was kind of like watching the cartoon. There were some touching moments in this movie that weren't too sappy. The connection between the young girl and Fat Albert actually being her grandfather and the scene where Bill Cosby and his friends are paying tribute to their friend at the cemetery. It was moments like that, that really elevated the film a little bit more. Some of the special effects were kind of silly and stupid looking. Like the race between Fat Albert and the young track star. Kind of funny, but the effects took away from it. This acutally is a good movie for children and for something that the family can enjoy, I guess I just didn't care for it that much. And yes, Fat Albert was one of my favorite Saturday morning cartoons.
