In the dreams of his victims, a specteral child murderer stalks the children of the members of the lynch mob that killed him.
Rating:9/10 A truly original movie that changed the horror genre. We were so used to seeing violent psychopaths who were quiet, but now we have the wise cracking Freddy, to give us a chuckle from time to time to almost break the tension. Freddy wasn't really hilarious at this time yet though. But he was plenty scary. The characters were well writtne and the acting was pretty good as well. This was also Johnny Depp's first movie if I believe correctly. Some of the special effects that are seen are easily outdated and in one instance laughable. I loved the ending. It was totally unpredictable, but when you look back, especially the car Johnny Depp was driving at the end, you would have known that this was truly not the end. The gore was outstanding as were the kills in this movie. There is one that still gets me today, as it did the day I seen it at the drive in with my brother and friends. A Nightmare on Elm Street brought something new to the horror genre and it will go down in history in recognition of that fact.
