Mulberry Street is one of the most impressive low budget horror movies that I have ever seen. With what the film makers had to work with and not having the permission of the city of New York to film this movie, these guys did an amazing job. First off, this is not a zombie movie. Let's get that straight. These are rat people. But the rules of a zombie movie do apply though. So this makes it a little different than your average zombie movie s the people infected take on the traits of a rat. Now it took a long time to get to the action. That actually worked out well as the characters were very likable and relatable. You get a really good idea what these people are like and you actually care what happens to them. It also shows how the virus and the attacks from the rat people are slowly starting to take over the city. But there was not one weak character through out this movie. And the acting from unknowns was unbelievable. There was so much tension when Clutch went after Kay to rescue her fomr the bar5 and then the escape attempt from the bar. Kim Blair was on her own for awhile and the tension she created by trying to outwit and outrun the rat people was great. The best characters were Frank and Charlie. I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat as they were trying to hide and get away from the rat people. This was not a movie made with a bunch of teenagers, but older people. And the felt more real than most character I have ever seen. When everything hit the fan, the scenes were so quick, my head was spinning to try and keep up. That also really helped build the tension. Seriously, this movie had a lot of tension. But it wasn't scary and it really did not have any scenes that made me jump. But the one flaw that this movie did have was the predictability of the ending. You could just see what was going to happen when it was happening. That doesn't sound right, but I just don't want to give it away fi anyone is interested in seeing this. And if you like low budget horror movie, you will not go wrong with this. I know I loved it.
