Night of the Demons
1988 Starring Alvin Alexis, Allison Barron, Lance Fenton, Billy Gallo, Linnea Quigley Rated R 90 Minutes
On the night of Halloween, 10 teens decide to go to a party at an abandoned funeral parlor. "Hull House", rumored to be built on an evil patch of land & underground stream, is the place. While starting the party, the teens gather around a big mirror to perform a seance...BIG MISTAKE. They awaken some evil force and find themselves trapped and taken over one by one. Now it's a battle for who can survive and cross over the stream before going to hell....
Rating:6/10 Night of the Demons is a typical 80's horror flick that is very fun to watch with friends. It even has some creepy scenes in it. The one scene that I found particularly creepy is when Angela was dancing in front of the fire with the light machine going on and off. That had an actual surreal effect. The acting was pretty bad and everyone was way over the top in potraying their characters. But there were some pretty funny lines that had me laughing out loud on several occasions. This movie does have an Evil Dead feel to it, though Bruce Campbell is a better actor and was a bit creepier than Night of the Demons. Everybody who has seen this movie talks about the lipstick scene. I will say, that was a very awesome special effect. Very different. Even the little sidestory with the old man and the punk kids was a fun little watch that had a Tales From the Crypt vibe. If you are looking for a 80's horror flick that you want to watch with some friends, this is the one to get.
