There was some things that were missing from the first Hostel. No, I don't expect it to be a carbon copy of the first, but at least the first had some humor in the first half hour. I couldn't find any of that in this one. It definetly did not have the tension from the first movie. I did like the begining with Jay Hernandez and you see the fate that he had from escaping the club. Right after that it kind of goes down hill though. For a horror movie, this has little to no scares. It was also highly predictable which also made it highly boring. For me, Eli Roth really dropped the ball when it came to Cabin Fever. But when Hostel came out, he picked it back up and was running quite well, but when it Came to Hostel 2, sorry it stunk for what it could have been. Sure, the potential was there, but you can onloy go so far with potential and then you have to do something with it and Eli Roth has really done nothing with the potential he had. Sorry, just because you are friends with Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, it doesn't make you a great director.
