Many years after two summer camp councilers are killed at Camp Crystal Lake, the owner decides to reopen, which sparks a series of grisly murders.
Rating:7/10 Between this movie and John Carpenter's Halloween, it really sets the tone for horror movies for years to come. Like Halloween, this sets a very eerie tone and feeling to the film. It has a sense of uneasiness. No, that is not due to the bad acting(including a young Kevin bacon), but the feeling of dread as you know something is around the corner and you are powerless to stop it. The music will always be forever famous, helping set the eerie tone of the film. The graphic nature of this movie also helps in making this very memorable for teenagers at that time, and even know. Unlike most horror movies, these were pretty much just average kids, doing average things. There were no bad kids in the bunch, it was just wrong place at the wrong time. And the villian. Pure stroke of genius. I won't give it away, just in case you are one of the few who haven't seen this, but the real villian of this movie was very shocking. This movie is quite on par with movies like Seven. It has a great intense build up and then it lets loose. Definitely a classic of all time.
