Charlton Heston seems to find his way to classic science fiction movies that have a message. He was in Soylent Green and The Omega Man. But Planet of the Apes is the one the people point to when Charlton Heston's name is mentioned. Heston really shined in this role. He had excellent dialogue to work with and classic lines that are still spouted off today in modern culture. The rest of the cast was excellent as well with Roddy McDowell and Kim Hunter as the apes who are sympathetic to Taylor's cause. Maurice Evans as Dr. Zaius was actually kind of scary in his role. Kim Harrison was very easy on the eyes and did a decent job as the silent Nova. This movie had some great dramatic moments and during a couple of the chase scenes were very intense as I was sitting on the edge of my seat as people were getting killed off in the hunt. There were several twists and turns that helped keep the suspense going. The ending is unforgetable as was this whole movie. It is an ending that will haunt you and make you think of the fears of the world that was going on at that time. Classic movie and always worth a watch.
