Wow, does Alfred Hitchcock know how to create and build tensuion or what? For as simple as this movie looked, it was very thought provoking and very deep. This was a very intelligent story that I couldn't turn away from. Hitchcock brings the world of voyeurism right to the person who is watching the film as you are seeing what James Stewart's character sees. And speaking of James Stewart and the rest of the cast, the were nothing short of brilliant. It was great seeing Raymond Burr before he was Perry Mason. I also love the fact that the main character had a broken leg and there wasn't a whole lot that could be done except see the world through the eyes of James Stewart. I also love the fact that there were several different little sub plots through out the movie that could have been there own movies. The setting looked very cool as well as it made me want to explore what was going on in the neighborhood. Here is a little piece of trivia. All of the apartments that were shown in the movie, had electricity and running water. One of the actresses, I believe Miss Torso, actually lived on the set until filming was over. Rear Window is a visually strong movie, in which Hitchcock manipulates our emotions. The ending was a bit different than what I was expecting as we see what happens to Stewart's character and how he deals with the villian in his condition. Awesome movie, a must watch.
